GCSE Arabic
The option to take GCSE Arabic in P7
At Olivewood, many of our pupils demonstrate good levels in Arabic as they progress through the bilingual programme and may optionally sit GCSE Arabic in Primary 7. This pathway recognises prior attainment and supports motivated learners to gain a national qualification early, after discussing this with parents and ensuring it is in the child’s best interests.
We have had 9 of our P7 pupils sit GCSE in 2025, all achieving great results!
– 7 pupils achieved A/A*
– 2 pupils achieved B+
How we decide
In P6–P7 we run a readiness review (classwork, short diagnostics, a mock paper). We meet families to discuss and agree the best route. Entries are typically for the Higher Tier.
Support provided
The school runs structured speaking practice and targeted feedback as well as past-paper practice with clear mark-scheme guidance.
Wellbeing first
No child is entered unless we’re confident the experience will be positive and manageable. Pupils who aren’t entered continue with a rich Arabic programme and can take GCSE Arabic at a later date.
